Petrified Forest Trail   A long drive separates St. George from Petrified Forest Trail, but it's one of those places where hiking is great. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Petrified Forest Trail has to offer, you can camp at Watchman Campground. You'll meet a lot of people from Virgin here, and Scoggins Wash is nearby, and is a nice location. You can run the rapids of Virgin River right next door to Petrified Forest Trail, and you can stay the night at Zion Canyon Campground.     There's whitewater on Virgin River - North Fork for all you adrenaline people. Places like Quail Creek State Park are magnificent to stop by. At Petrified Forest Trail you don’t see much rainfall. March is the month that gets the most rain while June is mostly the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Petrified Forest Trail with nighttime lows in the 60's.
