Bearpen Trail   There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. A visit to Virginia is not complete without some hiking. Bearpen Trail is located quite a long drive from Boone but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in nature a bit and Bearpen Trail in Grayson County, Virginia is the outdoors at it's best. You're sure to run into some wonderful folks from     Troutdale here, and since you're here, you might as well go to Rocky Hollow. But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Big Wilson Creek. Take a side trip to Wilburn Branch, and camping is available at Hurricane Campground. Little Wilson Creek is a tremendous spot to stop at, and a perfect place to camp here at Bearpen Trail is Grayson Highlands State Park. Grayson Highlands State Park is a good site to stretch your legs a bit; New River - South Fork has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby. You imagine that's enough? Just getting warmed up. For the duration of the summer, highs typically   are in the 80's at Bearpen Trail; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Bearpen Trail temperatures fall to the 20's. The high level of rain makes Bearpen Trail a reasonably wet site.
