Hunting Creek Trail
| | I just hiked ''Hunting Creek Trail'' Saturday June, 26 2010. I would not recommend this trail to anyone. This trail shows no sign of any maintenance having been done to it for a long time. At times, due to over growth, I was not even sure that I was still on the trail. In other places it was like walking in a very rocky dry creek bed.
There are two was to get on this trail. The first is by parking at Thunder Ridge overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway |
and walking about ¾ of a mile south on the Appalachian Trail. If you start here the trail immediately starts downhill. You will then have to walk back up hill to get back to your car. I usually try to do my day hikes by starting out
| going uphill so that I have the easier walk down hill after getting tired.
To get to the other end of the trail you will have to drive about 3 ½ miles on a gravel road after you pass the sign that says end state maintenance. Says J. Clark
Virginia has lots of outdoors activities. Hiking trails are all over the Blue Ridge Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you. Hunting Creek Trail is not very near Lynchburg at all but it's one | |
|
of those places where hiking is great. Gotta get out of the city man, and Hunting Creek Trail in Bedford County, Virginia is such a great place. Camping at Yogi Bear's Jellystone At Natural Bridge is always a great experience, and James River is a splendid whitewater spot nearby.
