Scales Trail   There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it's a great hiking area. Hiking in Virginia is such a great thing to do. Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in nature a bit and Scales Trail in Grayson County, Virginia is such a great place. Pretty far from Boone you find Scales Trail but it is a great escape from the city. Scales Trail is a wonderful place to visit for more than one day, Grayson Highlands State Park     is a wonderful place to camp nearby. A spree to Scales Trail wouldn’t be complete without a visit to nearby Grayson Highlands State Park. You can run the rapids of Big Wilson Creek in close proximity to Scales Trail, and Massie Gap is in the vicinity, and is a perfect site. Why not take a look at nearby Quebec Branch while you're here at Scales Trail. Hurricane Campground is a great local campground; Scales Trail is not far at all from Troutdale. Big Wilson Creek is a pretty stream that is worth a visit. A good place for whitewater paddling near Scales Trail is New River - South Fork. Scales Trail is a rather wet place commonly with lots of precipitation. July is the wettest month with   most rain; November is the month with the least moisture. All through the warm days of summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Scales Trail. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's, and night lows throughout the winter for Scales Trail tend to be in the 20's.
