Allegheny Trail   West Virginia is a great outdoors state. We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Allegheny Trail in Monroe County, West Virginia is just what you need. Allegheny Trail is not very near Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford at all but hiking it is always fun. Pine Swamp Branch is a stream that you may bump into during your stay. Moncove Lake State Park is a great campground nearby, and Little Stony Creek has a great whitewater paddling spot close by.     There's some flowing water close by, Dismal Branch is a stream you can visit during your stay. In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Stony Creek - New Tributary. If you came for an overnight stay New River Junction Campground is a wonderful site to camp, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Pembroke here. Summertime highs at Allegheny Trail mostly tend to be in the 80's, and the night is a tad cooler of course, mostly in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Allegheny Trail descend into the 20's. The yearly precipitation here at Allegheny Trail is about average.
